As of yesterday, the countdown hit exactly D-20. With September 15 right around the corner, I've officially completed the textbook foundation phase and transitioned into high-intensity exam simulation mode. This week, my complete focus was on MWA C (41% / 51 Qs) and MWA D (15% / 19 Qs). Together, these two activities represent more than half of the entire Red Seal exam!

Scenario 1: Obscure 30-Year VIN Model Year Coding
Question: A customer provides a VIN with the letter 'L' in the 10th position. Based on standard ISO 3779 VIN regulations, what model year does this character indicate?
A) 1990 only
B) 2020 only
C) Either 1990 or 2020, depending on the generation and vehicle era (30-year ISO cycle excluding I, O, Q, U, Z)
D) 2012
Correct Answer: C) The 10th digit VIN year code operates on a 30-year repeating cycle (1980=A to 2000=Y, 2001-2009=1-9, 2010=A to 2039=Y). The character 'L' represents both 1990 and 2020.
Exam Takeaway: Never assume an alphabet code strictly belongs to the 90s. Always cross-reference the manufacturer code (WMI) and modern safety features to confirm vehicle era.
Scenario 2: Damaged Core Inspection & Dispute Protocol
Question: A trade customer returns an old alternator core for a deposit refund, but the cast aluminum housing has a severe fracture near the mounting ear. What is the correct procedure?
