This trade is not on Ontario’s compulsory list, so you may work in it without a certificate. The Red Seal still travels across Canada as a recognised credential, and employers frequently ask for it — but in Ontario it is a qualification, not a licence.

Whether it is required or not, the exam itself is the same paper everywhere in Canada. What your province decides is whether you must hold the certificate, how you apply, and where you sit it.

Ontario's construction regulation requires the crane, its load and any part of the boom to stay at least 3 m from a conductor above 750 V and up to 150 kV (4.5 m above 150 kV to 250 kV, 6 m above 250 kV). At 2.5 m the crane is too close and must be moved back. Other provinces set their own distances, so check the rules where you work.
Guy attachments such as guy hooks or pole eye plates are secured by through-bolts with heavy curved square washers. A smooth radius or thimble supports the strand without sharp bends that would notch the wires, and the load spreads over the wood.
A fused in-line connector in the base protects the luminaire wiring from faults and lets the technician open the circuit to that one light for maintenance. The fuse size is set by the utility standard for the luminaire.
